Shapes and chance
Optical Illusions
Six well known illusions, each drawn from numbers, each with a button that shows the truth, and readouts that measure the picture on the screen rather than restate what the code meant to draw. The checker shadow is painted pixel by pixel, and its tests check every pixel of square A against every pixel of square B: one grey. The Muller-Lyer lines let you set them equal by eye and then tell you by how much you missed. The cafe wall's mortar lines are tested level at every setting. The stepping feet move at one tested speed while their edges stand out in turn, by relative luminance. The wagon wheel's seeming turn is tested against the true turn folded into one spoke gap, and the lilac chaser counts the green pixels on the canvas: none. Ours: every picture, size, colour and timing.
